TOPOLOGY PROJECTS
A topology diagram includes simple pictures of servers,
workstations, hubs, routers, repeaters and cable. The diagram is well labeled and includes a short description. You
should describe the OS systems, type of cables and connectors, numbers of cable
and connectors, lengths of cables, protocols, etc…. Often there is more than
one correct answer.
Create a topology diagram for the following:
A small medical lab has 5 PCs. The lab is 100 ft square and the 5 PC workstations are going to be located near the outside perimeter of the lab. They need to have security and wish to have E-mail capabilities. They also need to share a single printer.
A new pizza parlor has opened up and they wish to keep track of all of the activity during the day. They need 2 workstations and security is not an issue. Assume that the PCs will be about 25 ft apart. It is OK to invent additional information to enhance your topology for this examples.
You have just won the lottery and are planning to put PCs in each of the room were you live. It is OK to invent additional information to enhance your topology for this examples.
A law firm has 25 employees and is growing. They want to implement a secure system that will grow with their firm. The have 16 lawyers offices each with a workstation, and every 2 offices share a secretary that also has a PC. Network printers are to be kept to a minimum, so one network printer per every 5 secretaries. The offices are about 15ft by 15 ft (approx. dist. To each workstation) and they have one BOARDROOM that they wish to have wireless. It is OK to invent additional information to enhance your topology for this examples.
Staple all of the
above topologies together, put your name on it and turn it in for grading.
