Grade:

Brief Description

Your home typing company has been contracted to do 3 jobs.  You must complete and submit all 3 jobs.

Objectives

Job 1 You have been hired by the manager of a computer shop to make an announcement about new products that meet Energy Star guidelines.  In a bulleted list, be sure to include the following information:

·        25% of computers are left on 24 hours a day

·        Computers make up 5% of all commercial energy consumption.

The energy star logo must be somewhere on the announcement.  Also, the following text must be located on the announcement:

“The goal of the Energy Star program is to design major computer

system components that use no more than 30 watts of power when

turned on but not in use.  If all computers in the United States met

Energy Star guidelines, enough energy could be saved to power a

city of six million people for one year.”

Job 2 You have been given a job to design an announcement for a speaker coming to a school.  Use “Not happy with your performance on tests?” as a headline.  Then below the headline insert the text “DeJoseph’s Test-taking Seminar Can Help!” In a bulleted list, put the following points:

·        Some people are better test takers than others

·        Test-taking is a skill that can be learned

·        You can improve your test scores

There must be at least one appropriate graphic on the announcement.  Also, the following text must be on the announcement:

“Do your test scores really reflect how much you know?  We can help

you do your best on every test.  We’ll give you tips on effective

preparation (such as how to anticipate likely outcomes) and optimal performance (such as when it pays to guess).  Modify your test-taking behavior through our proven system of reinforcement!  For more

information, call Merle DeJoseph at (123) 555-7766.

Job 3 Your mother is preparing for her 20th high school reunion from <Your Home School>.  She has asked you to create an announcement that can be sent to each person in her graduating class.  The announcement must include the following information:

·        Dinner at The Tailor of Gloucester

·        Music by The Zombies

·        Special Guest Merle DeJoseph

·        Saturday, August 30 at 9:00PM.

·        More info by calling Mr. Merle DeJoseph at (789) 555-4321.

·        Fun, Games, Friends

Use catchy fonts and appropriate graphics to interest the readers.  Tip: Find a logo for your home school and use that somewhere in your announcement.
