LAB procedures

Note taking: Remember we are working as a team, our basic responsibilities are simple.  You are to learn as much as possible from this class and I am required to provide the information, resources and classroom environment for your learning. Your notes (manual) serve you in an least four ways:

  1. It is a way to practice the Application tools that you are learning.
  2. Your notebook is a tool that WE can use to discuss what you may not understand or information that you have missed.
  3. Your notebook will be valuable to you as a tool to teach others how to use computers, like a manual. (the most important role of any PC "GURU" is to show others how to accomplish their goals with a PC)
  4. It will be a valuable source of examples of your work for future employment interviews.

Notebooks/Manuals:

  1. Have your notebook/Manual at your lab workstation everyday.
  2. Keep them up to date.  You only need to print out your latest "FULL" pages.
  3. You may use your fellow students notebook as examples on how to take notes
BUT YOU MUST DO YOUR OWN NOTES, NO COPYING
  4. Put them away, take care of them.  Leave them in your lockers if you wish, or take them home
BUT HAVE YOUR NOTEBOOKS EACH DAY

File Management:

For the best safety of your files:

  1. Copy your notes file each day from the server folder to your desktop.
(Use the browse or the run command:  \\server\your last name and first initial\)
  2. Edit your notes from the desktop.
  3. After your edits are complete, SAVE and Exit the application.
  4. Use EXPLORER to copy your "Desktop" file back to the server.
  5. Back the file up to a floppy (or a ZIP disk) as an extra precaution.
