Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment

Orleans/Niagara BOCES is approved by the NYS Education Department Office of the Professions as a course provider on the Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.

Are you a coach or teaching assistant working towards completion of your certification requirements and need to take the Mandated Reporter Training: Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect course? Did you know in 2007 there was a significant change in social services law in relation to including certain school employees as those persons required to report cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment? Or perhaps you took the course several years ago and need a refresher. Mandated reporters include workers in the child care, educational, law enforcement, medical, and social services professions.

In the case of persons completing State registered programs leading to certification, no Certificate of Completion will be awarded because the training in suspected child abuse recognition and reporting is a required component of their educational curricula.  Verification that such training has been completed by these graduates is provided by the institution of higher learning.
