Apprentice Related Instruction

  • Orleans/Niagara BOCES offers courses for individuals enrolled in the New York State Apprenticeship Program and Employer In-Plant programs. BOCES has been selected by the New York State Education Department to be the Lead Educational Agency for Niagara and Orleans counties. NYS apprentice related courses have been developed to help the apprentice meet the related instruction portion, Appendix B, for his/her apprenticeship. All courses have been reviewed and approved by the apprenticeship Advisory Committee. Classes for the apprentice are part-time and meet two evenings a week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Most classes are 72-hours in length. BOCES offers the two semesters per year to allow the apprentices to meet the minimum 144-hour per year requirement. Apprentices are required to maintain a 90% attendance rate and a minimum grade average of 75% for each class completed. It is the responsibility of the apprentice and the sponsoring employer to fulfill the attendance hour requirements.
