Many adults have not completed a formal high school program and need a high school diploma to obtain certain jobs, get promotions or attend college. The High School Equivalency Test Program (HSE) makes it possible to earn a high school equivalency diploma regardless of age or length of time since leaving school.
The TASC (Tests Assessing Secondary Completion) consists of tests in:
- Language Arts Reading
- Social Studies
- Language Arts
- Math Part 1 (without calculator)
- Math Part 2 (with calculator)
Each test is designed to measure the educational development of adults 17 years old and older who have not completed high school. This exam is either given over a two-day period or in one day depending on the exam location.
There are several ways to prepare for taking the NYS High School Equivalency Exam. HSE classes are individualized programs set up by a HSE instructor. Free day and evening classes are held at various centers throughout the county to help students upgrade skills and prepare for passing the exam. Call 716-731-6800 , Ext. 3101 for details.
