TA-835 Teacher Aide

Requirements: Civil Service – Non-competitive. High school diploma or GED required.

Job Description: Anticipated initial assignment is to be at Royalton-Hartland Learning Center, Gasport, NY.  Please see the attached job description. The individual will provide services in programs of special education. The individual will provide instructional, behavioral, and clerical support under the direction of the classroom teacher to students with significant global delays including social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The individual must be able to take directives from the classroom teacher, collect student data, and implement behavioral strategies under the direction of the classroom teacher and related service providers. The individual must be able to exercise patience and be a team player. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and de-escalation training is preferred. Regarding physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position, requirements may include the abilities to regularly and repetitively stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, push, pull, crawl, and kneel. Regular attendance and dependability are required. Other responsibilities may be assigned. The assignment is subject to change.
