Special Ed Teacher Susie Zafrano Named Newfane CSD Distinguished Alumni

Congratulations to Susie Zafrano, one of our amazing special education teachers!  This Orleans Learning Center teacher was recently recognized as one of Newfane Central School District’s 2022 Distinguished Alumni along with Tom Beilein (Vietnam Veteran, Law Enforcement, Niagara County Sheriff), Dr. Brian Hamluk (College Administrator, Vice President of Student Life at UB), Paul Hobbs (Viticulture and Enology, Paul Hobbs Wines), Dr. Rebecca Liddell Huppi (Biologist, Program Director, AIDS Clinical Program, National Institute of Health) and Dr. Jean Greig Roberts (Pianist, Organist, Choral Director).

According to the school district, these recipients were chosen for showing exemplary leadership and having made significant impacts on the lives they’ve touched in their chosen careers and within the Newfane Community.  Mrs. Zafrano was nominated by her stepson who loving told her and the nominating committee was an inspiration she has been to him and to all the students who have been in her classroom and at the Special Olympics.  She is so deserving of this recognition!
