Culinary Arts Students Check Out Platters Chocolates and Becker Farms
Students from the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center’s Culinary Arts Program recently spent a day on a very educational and delicious fieldtrip.
The class started their day at Platter’s Chocolates and Ice Cream Shop in North Tonawanda and saw firsthand how to make sponge candy and other tasty treats. The students went through the entire operation and saw just how clean and professional it is to make candy in such a large- scale facility. The tour also included information on the history of Platter’s Chocolate and the Wurlitzer Complex that it is located in.
The students then proceeded to Becker Farms in Niagara County and learned about the production of growing apples and pumpkins and what products could be made from them. “We had a fantastic day,” says teacher Mr. Ihle.
