Orleans Learning Center Recognized for Volunteer Work
The B. Leo Dolan Post, of the American Legion, honored the students and the Orleans Learning Center for their volunteer work.
During a Veteran's Day ceremony featuring the school's bell choir, members of the post presented the students with two plaques. One award bestowed national recognition for outstanding service and assistance. The Maryanne Casadei Award recognized the students’ outstanding service to the advancement of the American Legion Auxiliary programs.
The students spent last year completing a variety of volunteer activities in support of local veterans. Among these were baking cookies, making lap blankets, making cards and performing at nursing homes. “The students were excited to receive these honors,” says Orleans/Niagara BOCES Coordinator Krista Macomber. “The parents and staff at Orleans Niagara BOCES are very proud of them.”
