Special Education and Alternative Education

Orleans/Niagara BOCES provides Special Education Programs for students referred by the Committee of Special Education.

Orleans/Niagara BOCES provides comprehensive services to our component districts for both special and alternative education students.  This includes specific programming for the wide range of students' needs such as Autism Program, the Emotionally Disturbed Program, our Multiply Disabled Program along with our newly designed Life Skills and Academic Skills curriculum.

Throughout the programs BOCES provides a multitude of services including: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Services, Vision and Hearing, Orientation and Mobility.  In addition counseling is provided at all sites.

BOCES Special Education also provides leadership in the ever changing world of special education by facilitating the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC).  The organization promotes a forum for special education administrators to increase their knowledge of special education law and related instruction strategies.  Administrators also have an opportunity to learn from each other month after month throughout the year.

The mission of the Orleans/Niagara BOCES is to be the premiere provider of innovative and effective solutions for the evolving needs of our component districts and other learning collaboratives.  Through constantly re-evaluating programs and instructional strategies, by updating and in-servicing our staff and forming alliances we are fulfilling our mission with passion and dedication.
