Congratulations to the students from the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center, who were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Out of all the high school students in the United States, the National Technical Honor Society students who receive this honor comprise 1.6 percent of that population. For staff at the Orleans/BOCES center, they represent the four pillars of the National Technical Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service and character.

Nothing says Fall like pumpkins and apple pie! Mrs. Henn's and Mrs. Zdrojewski's class, at the North Tonawanda Learning Center, were the recipients of a generous donation from Wagner's Farm Market on Lockport Road. Wagner's donated apples and pumpkins for their life skills cooking class. The students had a great time making apple crescent pies. Mrs. Henn said the students had a lot of fun and enjoyed the fruits of their labor with their yummy treats!

Our Extended School Year students at the Orleans Learning Center had an amazing time on their field trip to Akron Falls Park recently. It just also happened to occur during Spirit Week's Tie Dye Day! Here are Hailey Burdick (Lockport), Azariah Ferguson (Lockport) and Nathan Seaman (Lyndonville) checking out the falls with teacher aide Jeff LaFountain. Resident fisherman Clay Fischer (Lyndonville) and classmate Jeremiah Miller (Lockport) show off their catch. "Our students are learning a lot this summer and having a great time!" says Coordinator Michelle Kulbago. What a great outing for our students!

Our North Tonawanda Learning Center students had fun in the sun.

This is kind of a cool story. Our Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering teacher Bill Rakonczay was cleaning out his room at the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center when he stumbled upon a notebook in one of the file cabinets. It belonged to his dad, William Rakonczay, Sr., who taught the program before Bill. It was his lesson plan and tucked in the notebook was a poem about being a father. What a great way to end a school year!
