Administrators of the Orleans/Niagara BOCES, Newfane Superintendent Jay Lupini, Orleans/Niagara BOCES’ Board of Education members, staff and students celebrated the re-opening of the Godfrey Learning Center on October 15th in Newfane. It was a beautiful fall day for a ribbon cutting as everyone celebrated the BOCES partnership with the Newfane Central School District to house classes at this site. Attendees were invited to tour the facility and a reception. District Superintendent Dr. Taweepon Farrar says, “The Newfane Learning Center historically served students in grades 6–8, while the Godfrey Learning Center served students in grades 9–12. Both programs provide specialized educational settings designed to meet the needs of students who benefit from smaller class sizes, individualized instruction, and additional behavioral or therapeutic supports. The decision to consolidate under the Godfrey Learning Center roof allows Orleans/Niagara BOCES to bring these programs together in one location, improving continuity of services as students transition from middle to high school and enabling greater collaboration among staff and related service providers.”
