Student standing with district superintendent

We are highlighting another remarkable student from the Niagara Academy, Lily Parker (Wilson).  Lily is the Student Council President and a member of LYNC (Leadership for the Youth of Niagara Communities)

At Assistant Principal Michelle Kulbago’s President meeting with Lily in October, Lily asked if she could invite ONBOCES District Superintendent Dr. Taweepon Farrar to one of the Student Council meetings.  “Lily really wanted to get to know Dr. Farrar better and show her some of the things that we do in Student Council,” explains Mrs. Kulbago.  “We had a great discussion about the questions that she would like to ask Dr. Farrar, and the personal accomplishments that she would like to share with Dr. Farrar.”

Dr. Farrar accepted the invitation and came to Niagara Academy this month to meet with Lily, which was such a meaningful experience for Lily.   As they talked, Lily really felt a connection with Dr. Farrar and realized they shared some similar experiences, and that they both overcame those challenges.  “I felt privileged to be a part of the meeting,” says Mrs. Kulbago.  “For me, I felt renewed motivation to continue doing my best work.”

Lily has been at the Niagara Academy since middle school and she is now a junior.  She is always happy to share how much she loves her school and how the staff that have made a real positive impact on her life.  In particular, she is very grateful for the support and guidance that she has received from her Counselor, Amy Crocker, over the years.  Lily said, “I can tell her anything and she really listens to me.  She makes time for me.”

“Lily is a remarkable young lady.  She is deeply reflective and has become a positive problem solver,” says Mrs. Kulbago.  “She is a genuine role model as Student Council President.  She has actively decided to overcome any challenges in life with grace and strength.”
