teacher and students in front of coffee station

Godfrey Learning Center students, in Jillian Wisler’s class, have been focusing on job skills and looking for hands-on experience at the school.

Mrs. Wisler brainstormed and came up with the idea of running a coffee bar in the morning and it has been a huge success! Staff orders their coffee or smoothies first thing by dropping off an order form.  The students process the forms and make note of any special requests, make the drinks and organize them by classroom and time requested.  They then take turns delivering the beverages to their destinations and collecting their payment.

The staff loves starting their day seeing the students’ smiling faces and getting their coffee!  Mrs. Wisler says the students enjoy learning new skills and also getting a chance to help out their schoolmates.  “We use the profit we make to help fund some of the students’ field trips.  It makes us all feel good to help out someone who might not be able to attend some of our outings.”  It sounds like a win-win for everyone!
