Teachers and musician posing with students

The Orleans/Niagara BOCES students at the Godfrey Learning Center were recently entertained and educated by musician Sujeet Desai.

Mr. Desai, who was born with Down Syndrome, is a Syracuse, New York native and a graduate from the Berkshire Hills Music Academy in Massachusetts.  He plays seven instruments and has traveled to 15 countries, receiving awards from the presidents of three different countries.  Among his accomplishments, he is inductee of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, made a commercial for the Rio Paralympic World Games, performed at Carnegie Hall and the Special Olympics World Games.

Music teacher Mary Kuhn says teacher Marilyn Brauer organized the event for the Extended School Year (ESY) Program.  “It was such a fantastic opportunity for our students,” she says.  “Not only did he showcase his musical ability, he was a guest music educator for the day.  The students loved it!”
