Yesterday, the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center (OCTEC) hosted the official launch of the seventh annual GLOW With Your Hands kickoff. GLOW (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming Counties) With Your Hands is a regional collaboration that connects students with local employers, educators, workforce organizations, and post-secondary partners to help them discover careers, explore pathways, and better understand the opportunities that exist right here in our own communities.

Speakers at the event included Kelly Kiebala (Director of the Orleans County Job Development Center), Rick Rofe (General Manager of Brunner), Tracy Van Vleck (Genesee-Livingston-Orleans-Wyoming Workforce Development), Orleans/Niagara BOCES Director of Career & Technical Education and Adult Education Dr. Michael Weyrauch and former OCTEC Welding student Will Plummer (Albion). Dr. Weyrauch had this to say, "The vision behind GLOW With Your Hands is the importance of partnerships, and the opportunities available to students through career and technical education. The true measure of the this initiative isn't found in the programs we offer or the partnerships we've built, its found in the lives of the students we serve." The attendees then toured the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Welding and Diesel Mechanics classrooms at the facility.

September 29th at the Genesee County Fairgrounds, over 1,200 students will experience the seventh annual GLOW With Your Hands through a day of exploration, discovery and hands-on learning.
