Group photo of inductees in front of BOCES

Congratulations to the students from the Orleans/Niagara BOCES’ Niagara Career and Technical Education Center, who were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

The Niagara Center’s chapter of the National Technical Honor Society is a real celebration highlighting the commitment of their students.  To be selected for induction, a student must meet several criteria: Each student must be a member in good standing of SkillsUSA because National Technical Honor Society and SkillsUSA are “sister clubs” with the same mission of preparing and supporting America’s future workforce.  Becoming a member of SkillsUSA was a choice that each of our inductees made at the beginning of their junior year.  Students must have superior attendance, meaning they missed no more than four days of school last year.  They must earn a grade point average of 89.5% or higher in their chosen program at BOCES as well as an average of 84.5% or higher at their home school.  Each student inductee must also have demonstrated high moral character and receive a recommendation from their instructor.  During this year, these students will strive to maintain these high standards. Additionally, they will carry out a community service project of their choosing for 10 hours or more.
